About Our School

Morda C of E Primary School is a wonderful rural primary school situated in the village of Morda on the lovely Shropshire borders. We are proud of our nurturing, inclusive ethos and our values-led curriculum.  Ofsted (2023 ) said  Morda is 'A small school with a big heart' and we certainly agree!

Children thrive in our school. We aim high and ensure all our pupils achieve the best they can.

Our vision and mission are underpinned by our core values, which reflect the qualities and attributes of the Christian ideal.

These are:

Courage:  We embrace new and challenging experiences’

Compassion: We care about each other

Fairness: We treat each other as we would want to be treated

These are the principles that drive our behaviour. We expect this from everyone in our community.

We currently have 128 children on roll (four classes and an Enhanced  Resourced Provision). Quality-first teaching, forensic monitoring and targeted invention for specifics groups means that the progress made by our SEND children is a strength

As of September 2023 we became part of the Pathway Federation which also contains Whittington CE Primary School. Our Executive Headteacher (Mr Carl Rogers ) is on site two days a week with the school led by the Head of School ( Helen Chapman ) on the three remaining days.

We believe our children deserve to leave our school with a body of knowledge that will allow them to progress successfully in the next phase of education and into a life filled with a passion for learning.

A significant strength of our school is our use of the dramatic-inquiry based pedagogy, Mantle of the Expert ( MoE) - which develops emotional concern (compassion) around equality and justice (Fairness) and encourages children to stand up for the underdog (Courage). Children love working in this vibrant, imaginative way. They are excited by and invested in their learning and  build knowledge in their long term memories. MoE is rich in talk and greatly enhances the development of speech and language from Reception to Year 6.

A Mastery based approach is used in both Maths and Reading to ensure that children make the best possible progress while high achieving children are challenged to broaden and deepen their understanding.

Reading is woven into our curriculum with a class book studied each term in addition to the progress children make through our carefully selected books, matching precisely the child’s stage in reading development. Reading for Pleasure is central to our approach with all children.

Our curriculum is experiential and creates life-long and treasured memories. Our curriculum is supported with a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular enrichment that is innovative and purposeful. We pride ourselves on the opportunities that we provide for our children.

We are  so proud of our school and, more importantly, the individuals who make it such a special place to be. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make and we warmly invite you to visit our vibrant and caring learning environment where you can experience first-hand what Morda C of E Primary School means to us all.
